A zine project in the works...

some ideas are starting to flow now. i'm real excited about the possibility of making a DIY zine with my cousin. he's got some very interesting ideas and were comparing ideas about how to go about it. working on a project like this can be very tricky, you learn humility and become accepting of other people's ideas, even at the cost of compromising your own ideas for the sake of making it happen, it's more fun this way, and it's always interesting to see what the final product looks like, even if it looks nothing from the original concept, but I have faith in my cousin's inputs and i'm glad to have him aboard in this project.

btw i found a great source for ideas for making a zine. its this book called " watcha mean what's a zine?"

GR Art Show

A few months ago, my favorite Asian Pop Culture Magazine -- and store--Giant Robot was holding an Eishi Takaoka art exhibit. At first the day begun with just a few people, the store moved next door for a much wider space, now they can actually have a space to hold art shows. When I got there Eric was carrying a ladder in his shoulders, they went into the other room to put up the remainder of the sculptures. Lots of hammering while more people came in. It got very crowded sometime around 7 pm. The show a success. Artists, musicians, and yes, those damn "hipsters" filled the whole floor. It was just a very positive energy. I got to meet the manager of the SF store, got home late, but had a blast. (All pics from GR's website, that's me in the bottom.

I won the bet.. But not really.

The other day at work, a Dionne Warwick song was playing, it was the song "what the world needs now is love" written by Burt Bacharach. My co-worker challenged me to a bet if I can guess the year the song was released. I said 1968. My Father had a Burt Bacharach record and he played that a lot on our turntable at home. I vaguely remember the album cover and the year it was issued, which was printed in the cover. He thought my guess was right so he gave me five dollars. Anyway. I just googled it and it turns out we are both wrong. It was 1965. I should give that five dollars right back to him.

Three Times

This is my favorite movie of 2006. Though the movie isn't for everyone. In fact, I'd most likely have a hard time recommending it to just anyone. I'm usually up for writing movie reviews, but I don't even know where to start with this one. But I have provided a link regarding this film. The author does an excellent job of articulating and keeping his opinions as objective as possible regarding the film.

first blog entry

Well, this is my first blog entry. I've always wanted to create one. But now that I have one, I honestly don't know what to say. Uhh...hello blog. Goodbye for now?
